Westside Gunn Drops the Video for “Allah Sent Me”

Published

Westside Gunn is joined by Benny the Butcher and Conway, the Machine.

Fresh off the release of his latest mixtape, FLYGOD Is An Awesome God II, Westside Gunn is still promoting tracks from Pray for Paris. On Monday, he premiered the video for “Allah Sent Me,” featuring Benny the Butcher and Conway, the Machine. Stream the full video below.

Directed by The Wizard, the video is mostly shot in black-and-white, aside from Gunn’s red Lamborghini SUV. Benny and Conway don’t appear in the visuals, so the visuals follow Westside Gunn as he balances life at home with the streets. After saying prayers on a Yves Saint Laurent prayer mat, he greets his wife and son and hits the streets. After collecting and counting money, and burning sage, Gunn is suddenly embroiled in an altercation. Gunn spoke about inspiration behind the video with Complex.

“In my days in the streets,” he says, “family was always first, but drug dealing was definitely second.”

Griselda Records are fresh off their first BET Award nomination for Best Group. Three weeks ago, they squared off against Migos, Travis Scott’s Jackboys, Chloe x Halle, EarthGang, and City Girls. Migos took home the honors.

Griselda’s continued its hot streak in the past few months. Back in March, Conway dropped his joint EP with Alchemist Lulu. Two months later, he dropped No One Mourns the Wicked with Big Ghost LTD.

Gabrielle Union Had Dreams Of Being A “Video Hoe” & Auditioned For “California Love” – Halla Back Free Promotion

Published

on

Not every A-lister had dreams of being the next great movie star. Many, like Gabrielle Union, apparently, wanted to be the “it girl” in Rap videos. She’s celebrated for her film and television roles, but Union recently sat down with JJ Redick and Tommy Alter on The Old Man & The Three podcast where she spoke about her dreams of fame early on in her career.

“I got this internship in my last year of school, and I was like the office gofer, help, or whatever, and I worked in the kid’s department,” she said. “So we were working with Hayden Panetierre and Jessica Biel and Shane West and all of those young child actors.”

“I’d talk to their parents and managers and whatnot, and when my internship ended, they were like, ‘Would you ever consider like, being one of our clients and us representing you.”

The actress said she “had such low self-esteem” but admitted that she “wanted to be a video hoe so bad.” Union had no aspirations of being in films, television shows, or commercials. “I wanted to be the chosen video hoe. That’s what we called them then,” she added. “Now they are video vixens, IG models, yeah, but I wanted to be a hot b*tch.”

Apparently, she lacked “big boobs or an ass” so she didn’t feel as desired as other women. “I was literally auditioning for like, ‘California Love’ video with Tupac.” Union said she booked other gigs quickly, but they weren’t aligning with her music video goals. “Just wanted to be in the ‘California Love’ video,” she joked.

It seems to have worked out for the best, all things considering. Watch the clip below.

The second DC FanDome went down, and we got two new trailers for both Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League and Gotham Knights.

DC announced both games were in the works last year during the first-ever DC FanDome virtual event. Since then, we haven’t gotten much information about either title. Saturday (Oct.16), during the second installment of the web event that showcases all things DC Comics, we got two brand new trailers, but unfortunately, no gameplay.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League’s trailer gave us more insight into the upcoming game with players either teaming up with a friend or going it alone while taking control of Amanda Waller’s Task Force X. This version of the team of supervillains turned reluctant heroes will have players controlling either Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang.

Like the comics and movies, the villains have were freed from their cells and tasked with the mission to take down the Justice League, including their alpha target, Superman, who has is under the control of Brainiac. The new trailer revealed that players could look forward to battling The Flash, Green Lantern, and other members of the iconic superhero squad before eventually facing Brainiac himself.

The trailer used in-game footage but did not showcase any gameplay and was comprised of cut scenes from the highly-anticipated game.

That was also the same case for WB Montreal’s Gotham Knights as well. We saw gameplay footage of the game during the first DC FanDome event. This year that was not the case. Instead, we were treated to a story trailer featuring Gotham’s young heroes/vigilantes, Bat Girl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood. They are called into action after Batman is killed in an explosion and is part of his contingency plan in the event of his untimely death.

In this new trailer that now features the Penguin, we learn more about the Court of Owls, a secret society comprised of Gotham’s wealthiest families.

Gotham Knights got its wig pushed back, unfortunately. The development team stated they need “more time to deliver the best possible experience for players.” Based on the first gameplay footage we saw last year that did garner some criticism, we understand the decision, just a shame there was nothing to see this year.

Both Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League arrive in 2022. We have no clue what month. We expect to hear more information from Warner Bros games very soon.

Presice85 – “Narcos & Boom Bap” (EP Review)

Published

on

Presice85 is a 36 year old MC from South Gate, California who first emerged at the very beginning of 2017 off his debut mixtape My Life Novel & followed it up a couple years later with a sequel during the spring time. However with a handful of singles that came down the pipe ever since then, it’s all lead up to his debut EP over here.

“War” starts off the EP with some keyboards & dusty drums talking about how no one wants smoke with him & even though I love the positive vibes of “No More L’s”, the King Lil G verse is kinda corny to me. “Street Poets” with KXNG CROOKED has a more orchestral sound declaring themselves as such whereas the somber “City of God” details going crazy for the cash, even though I’m a bit indifferent towards the Iceman Skrill verse.

The song “Russian Roulette” with Oside Blaze finds the 2 on top of a suiting Russian sample spitting that battle shit while the penultimate track “Body Catcher” gets on that sinister murderous shit. “Blood Sport” ends the EP by forebodingly comparing the rap game to such & taking shots at anyone who wants to step up to him.

If you’re not familiar with dude already, I think Narcos & Boom Bap is a pretty good place to start. I think he’s definitely a talented lyricists, but there are features sprinkled into a good 60% of the EP & it really didn’t need to be the case.

Score: 7/10
