J. Cole’s Classic 2014 Single, “No Role Modelz,” Reaches Over 1 Billion Spotify Streams

Back in 2014, J. Cole released arguably the greatest album of his career, and one of the best albums of all-time in general, with “2014 Forest Hills Drive.” The title paid homage to the street in Fayetteville, NC, that he grew up in. This album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, as Cole was praised for doing this with no features on it.

For many, the biggest record from 2014 Forest Hills Drive was “No Role Modelz.” The most popular lyrics here were “First things first, RIP Uncle Phil,” as Cole paid homage to James Avery, who played the role of Uncle Phil on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” No Role Modelz peaked at number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and is 6x platinum in the US.

Now, No Role Modelz has reached another impressive milestone. According to Chart Data, it has now reached over 1 billion Spotify streams. This also becomes Cole’s first song to ever hit 1 billion streams.

Cole also made a lot of noise two months ago, as he put out his sixth studio album, “The Off-Season.” That was Cole’s six straight number one album, and featured collabs with Lil Baby 21 Savage, Morray, and 6LACK.

Soulja Boy claims to be the first rapper to wear BapeThese past few years, Soulja Boy has become the source of jokes, for his claims of being the first to do a lot of things. A lot of what he says is outlandish, but he did inspire quite a bit, too. But, his recent interview with Complex Sneakers saw him say he was the first rapper to wear Bape.

Late, in 2005, Bape was actually launched with Pharrell as a co-founder. Many rappers wore the brand, in support of the popular producer. Actually, future fashion mogul, Kanye West, helped to make the brand popular, within the hip hop culture.

Soulja Boy has been trending, ever since the interview clip of him claiming to be the first rapper wearing Bape dropped. The fans on Twitter have come with all kinds of jokes, due to his claim. These jokes stem from Pharrell being a co-founder of the brand, when it dropped in 2005, two years before Soulja debuted.
