How To Bet On a Greyhound At the Dog Track

Published

on

All greyhound tracks in the United Kingdom and Ireland offer you the chance to back your selected dog with an on-course bookmaker. The process of backing a greyhound with a bookmaker is very straightforward but can be intimidating for somebody who is not familiar with the procedure. To aid the novice punter I have broken down this process into the 5 simple steps outlined below

1) Locate the betting ring

In the betting ring you will find the track bookmakers. The betting ring is typically located along the rails in front of the main stand. The bookies will usually be operating on a raised platform with a board listing the odds of the dogs in the upcoming race. The dogs will be numbered 1-6, according to the trap in which they have been drawn. Your race card will tell you which trap your chosen dog has been drawn in.

2) Seek out the best price

The odds being offered on each greyhound will differ between each bookmaker so it is worth shopping around to find the best price available for your selection. The odds are displayed on the board in fractional format (e.g. 2/1) and the prices will vary in accordance with the amount of money being wagered.

3) How to place your bet

To place a bet approach the bookmaker displaying the best price and state the amount of your bet, the type of bet (usually a win bet) and trap number of the dog. For example, you have studied the race card and decided you would like to put a bet of €20 on the dog in Trap 5 to win the race. Once you have your selection made you would approach your chosen bookmaker and clearly state “€20 Win Trap 5”. You then give him your €20 and he will give you a ticket with the details of your bet in exchange. Put this ticket in a safe place, as this is your proof that the bet was accepted by the bookmaker and you will need to produce it to claim your winnings.

4) When to place the bet

You can place your bet at any time before the race starts. The most seasoned punters wait until the final seconds before the race starts to place their bets, things can get very hectic in the betting ring at this time so if you would like to avoid getting caught up in the rush it would be advisable to get your bet on early and get a good position in the in the stand to watch the race. The reason experienced gamblers leave it late to put on their bets is that you will often get better prices from the bookmakers the closer you get to the start of the race, once you are more familiar with placing bets you too can join in the excitement of the last minute rush.

5) Collecting your winnings

If the dog you backed to win crosses the line in first place then your bet is a winner! Once the stadium announcer has confirmed the result of the race you can collect your winnings. To do so you must return to the bookmaker with which you placed your bet, hand him the ticket you received at the time you placed you bet and he will give you your winnings in exchange. Make sure to count your money and ensure you have been given the correct amount before you leave the bookmaker. Once you are satisfied you have been paid the correct amount, you can leave the betting ring and go spend your winnings.

I hope you find this guide useful and you enjoy lots of success at the track.

Exclusive Interview: Rising Artist ANT

Published

on

What is your name and what city do you rep?

My name is Antonie, I go by ANT and I rep the Northside of Chicago

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?

Well my latest release has to be one of my newer projects, I dropped back in March 2022 called “Antarchy 2″(Mixtape) as well as a video for the lead single “Questions” off of the same project. As far as what inspired me to create the project I would just have to say this little Pandemic situation we’ve been dealing with for these last few years honestly. It just put me in this different state of mind which gave me the ability to tap into different energies as well channel/express whatever frustrations or uncertainty that I was dealing with in that moment. We were in a chaotic state as a society and I believe ultimately that’s what inspired me to make the project.

What is unique about you and your music?

Its original and very authentic to who I am as a person, it can sometimes even be primal depending on the situation. Its almost as if I have created my own sound in a sense.

What shaped your music?

As for what has shaped my music I would have to say just life in general ya kno from every day life struggles to friends to family to celebrity role models and even social media to a certain extent. Its like as one continues to grow so does, ones interests and or craft.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

No joke this may seem funny as hell too but like legit immediately after I saw the young money Bed Rock video back in the day when Wayne had like that dream team list of Artist goin hard all in one video shit was just mind blowing and so inspiring at the same time I just remember looking at my cousin and us both going yea We Want That!( the big house, pretty women, niggas doin flying shit and most of all just living life to the fullest having fun ya kno.)

What type of music do you listen to?

All kinds of music to be honest if it catches my ear imma listen to it pretty much.

What inspires you to write music?

Life experiences.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

I like to work out, spend time with friends and family, dance, write poetry, read, watch movies, binge watch tv shows stuff like that.

Happiness to you is…

Whatever makes you happy and not what others tell you is supposed to make you happy or what is qoute on qoute happiness in the eyes of society. Like if you are happy going to work , raising your kids and being normal ain’t nothing wrong with that as long as you happy and just because a large part of society says u should be getting to the bag 24/7 doesn’t mean you should live by those rules. True happiness to me in my eyes is not allowing others to dictate your pace or affect your peace of mind in anything you do whether it be relationships, friendships, or partnerships.

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?

Don’t chase trends. Focus on fully developing your sound and craft. It’s ok to experiment and incorporate similar sounds/ideas every now and again but dont lose yourself trying to be some one else or like someone else. So it’s like first just find yourself ya kno like who you truly are as an artist then just be you. Who ever that person is.

Tell us about your upcoming projects…

Well I’ve definitely got a ton of new projects on the way or in the works. Two of my newest projects just got finalized like last month so I’m anxious for those releases. One being just another installation of my “Loverz Lane” mixtape series and the other being in the form of an Ep just to show case some others abilities I have that may be getting overlooked momentarily.

Where do we find you music / music projects?

All Digital streaming platforms and or services. Such as spotify, iTunes, apple music, YouTube, SoundCloud, Amazon music, pandora etc etc…

Any last words for the readers?

Just want to say thanks for the opportunity, if you’re reading this now I just want you to kno you are appreciated. Love and prosperity to all. And thanks again 💯.

What is your name and what city do you rep?

My name is Sojiii, and I rep 2 cities. City of Toronto (Canada) and Lagos (Nigeria) Africa.

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?

My latest release is titled “Joyous” It’s currently in stores and has about 300k streams on all platforms, I released this record in Feb 2022. It’s an important record for me because I was feeling Alive again when I wrote it, after the lockdown and been out of the music game for couple years. “Joyous” was perfect for my return because I developed to a better and bigger brand and wanted to share it with the world. So the world can tap off that good energy through the music.

What is unique about you and your music?

ORIGINALITY. I feel I am an original Artist. I try to create music in ways and methods that suits it. Not just to trend or be heard, but to make it have its true meaning, so whomever is feeling it can relate to it deeply forever. All my songs represent something, could Be a moment that’s happened, or about to happen or a moment we could create. I try to be real, have fun and be educative with it.

What shaped your music?

Consistency, I work on myself and put effort to be consistent and that has really helped shaped my career.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

I realized I was going to make music professionally after my first school show at the age of 17. That moment and the reaction I got made me realize I needed to take my passion seriously and become pro. That was when the journey began.

What type of music do you listen to?

I really connect with most genre of music, as long as I’m feeling the Rhythm, I am hooked. But I would say my go to on a normal day would be Afrobeats, Hip hop and RnB.

What inspires you to write music?

Mehn… haha that’s a great Question. So many things inspire me to write music, because I try to make sure it’s as organic as possible. So life happenings, Moods, Moments have inspired me to write music at different times. Sometimes it’s just even people. I meet a person that inspires me or their story and I get ideas to write music from there. Sometimes it even hits me from my sleep haha, I wake up and have the melody and type it down right away.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

I exercise, take care of my body, mind and soul. I workout or practice boxing.
I also focus on business that I am involved in.. My clothing lines, Real estate. Double up.

Happiness to you is…

Being grateful to have life, and Living My life freely. Happiness to me also is making sure Myself and My people are straight and living good. Uplifting the less privileged.

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?

Understanding that it’s a process and you could take your time to always be the best version of yourself. There is no hurry to it. Take time to learn so you don’t lose out on alot or get taken advantage of.
I also wish I had paid more attention to the business side of music at the beginning, now I do and fully understand it.

Tell us about your upcoming projects…

I got about 10 songs piled up ready to go. I would be releasing song after song all summer. I would say at least 4 singles and 4 videos before 2022 is done and I might drop an E.P for my fanbase to wrap up the year or First month of 2023. I stay working so I have songs ready to go once the marketing plan is set and approved.
