Black social worked wrongfully accused of kidnapping white child on plane

American Airlines And Jetblue Announce Partnership

We can’t even do our damn jobs in peace without someone thinking we’re committing a heinous crime.

A report in the Mercury News details how a longtime Black social worker, Shannon Murphy, was detained and accused of kidnapping a white, blonde-haired, blue-eyed child who she was accompanying to Arkansas to visit his father. Apparently, some nosy-a$$ passenger pulled a flight attendant to the side and told them “that Ms. Murphy was holding a kidnap victim,” according to the now-filed lawsuit that she’s hit the airline with. A f***ing kidnap victim. Ms. Murphy has worked with the Department of Public Social Services’ Children’s Services Division since 1999. That’s 21 years if your math isn’t too good. The child was snatched away from Ms. Murphy and she was threatened with force if she tried to resist.

To make matters worse, Ms. Murphy had an ID, the child’s birth certificate, AND an order from the court mandating that she take the child to his parent.

“Had American Airline(s) (researched the matter) first prior to hauling Plaintiff, Ms. Murphy off the plane and detaining her and the one-year-old Caucasian male dependent Ms. Murphy would not have suffered the mental, physical and psychological harm flight personnel inflicted upon her,” the lawsuit alleged.

Murphy is now seeing a therapist in order to help her cope with the embarrassment and trauma she sustained at the hands of the airline’s negligence. During an interview with Business Insider, she recounted how she was feeling during the ordeal:

“During this time, the baby was reaching for me and crying,” Murphy said. “One of the flight attendants had grabbed the bottle out of my bag to give the baby, but I said not to. It was my last bottle.”

She added: “Everything just started upsetting me then because we get these kids, and we take them where they’re supposed to be. We’re supposed to provide safety for these children because they’re ours when we have them. I just didn’t know what to do. I was scared.”

She went on to say:

“I just wanted to get that baby back. I’ve been with the company for 21 years, and I’ve never experienced anything like that before in my life,” she said. “I’ve been transporting kids from state to state for years. I work overtime. I do all kinds of things for these families because I love my job.”

For their part, American released this toothless statement:

“We are reviewing the lawsuit and the details of the flight. We take the safety and comfort of our customers very seriously and we’re committed to providing a positive experience for everyone who travels with us,” the statement said.

There’s zero chance that this happens to a white woman carrying a Black child. The lawsuits seeks unspecified damages for violations of her civil rights, false imprisonment, and negligence. We hope Shannon Murphy takes every red cent they have.

Gabrielle Union Had Dreams Of Being A “Video Hoe” & Auditioned For “California Love” – Halla Back Free Promotion

Published

Not every A-lister had dreams of being the next great movie star. Many, like Gabrielle Union, apparently, wanted to be the “it girl” in Rap videos. She’s celebrated for her film and television roles, but Union recently sat down with JJ Redick and Tommy Alter on The Old Man & The Three podcast where she spoke about her dreams of fame early on in her career.

“I got this internship in my last year of school, and I was like the office gofer, help, or whatever, and I worked in the kid’s department,” she said. “So we were working with Hayden Panetierre and Jessica Biel and Shane West and all of those young child actors.”

“I’d talk to their parents and managers and whatnot, and when my internship ended, they were like, ‘Would you ever consider like, being one of our clients and us representing you.”

The actress said she “had such low self-esteem” but admitted that she “wanted to be a video hoe so bad.” Union had no aspirations of being in films, television shows, or commercials. “I wanted to be the chosen video hoe. That’s what we called them then,” she added. “Now they are video vixens, IG models, yeah, but I wanted to be a hot b*tch.”

Apparently, she lacked “big boobs or an ass” so she didn’t feel as desired as other women. “I was literally auditioning for like, ‘California Love’ video with Tupac.” Union said she booked other gigs quickly, but they weren’t aligning with her music video goals. “Just wanted to be in the ‘California Love’ video,” she joked.

It seems to have worked out for the best, all things considering. Watch the clip below.

The second DC FanDome went down, and we got two new trailers for both Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League and Gotham Knights.

DC announced both games were in the works last year during the first-ever DC FanDome virtual event. Since then, we haven’t gotten much information about either title. Saturday (Oct.16), during the second installment of the web event that showcases all things DC Comics, we got two brand new trailers, but unfortunately, no gameplay.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League’s trailer gave us more insight into the upcoming game with players either teaming up with a friend or going it alone while taking control of Amanda Waller’s Task Force X. This version of the team of supervillains turned reluctant heroes will have players controlling either Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang.

Like the comics and movies, the villains have were freed from their cells and tasked with the mission to take down the Justice League, including their alpha target, Superman, who has is under the control of Brainiac. The new trailer revealed that players could look forward to battling The Flash, Green Lantern, and other members of the iconic superhero squad before eventually facing Brainiac himself.

The trailer used in-game footage but did not showcase any gameplay and was comprised of cut scenes from the highly-anticipated game.

That was also the same case for WB Montreal’s Gotham Knights as well. We saw gameplay footage of the game during the first DC FanDome event. This year that was not the case. Instead, we were treated to a story trailer featuring Gotham’s young heroes/vigilantes, Bat Girl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood. They are called into action after Batman is killed in an explosion and is part of his contingency plan in the event of his untimely death.

In this new trailer that now features the Penguin, we learn more about the Court of Owls, a secret society comprised of Gotham’s wealthiest families.

Gotham Knights got its wig pushed back, unfortunately. The development team stated they need “more time to deliver the best possible experience for players.” Based on the first gameplay footage we saw last year that did garner some criticism, we understand the decision, just a shame there was nothing to see this year.

Both Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League arrive in 2022. We have no clue what month. We expect to hear more information from Warner Bros games very soon.

Presice85 – “Narcos & Boom Bap” (EP Review)

Published

on

Presice85 is a 36 year old MC from South Gate, California who first emerged at the very beginning of 2017 off his debut mixtape My Life Novel & followed it up a couple years later with a sequel during the spring time. However with a handful of singles that came down the pipe ever since then, it’s all lead up to his debut EP over here.

“War” starts off the EP with some keyboards & dusty drums talking about how no one wants smoke with him & even though I love the positive vibes of “No More L’s”, the King Lil G verse is kinda corny to me. “Street Poets” with KXNG CROOKED has a more orchestral sound declaring themselves as such whereas the somber “City of God” details going crazy for the cash, even though I’m a bit indifferent towards the Iceman Skrill verse.

The song “Russian Roulette” with Oside Blaze finds the 2 on top of a suiting Russian sample spitting that battle shit while the penultimate track “Body Catcher” gets on that sinister murderous shit. “Blood Sport” ends the EP by forebodingly comparing the rap game to such & taking shots at anyone who wants to step up to him.

If you’re not familiar with dude already, I think Narcos & Boom Bap is a pretty good place to start. I think he’s definitely a talented lyricists, but there are features sprinkled into a good 60% of the EP & it really didn’t need to be the case.

Score: 7/10
